Recommendation

Skates really have its advantages but we also have to put considerations on the things that the PNR wants to pin-point which is safety! Safety of their passengers, safety of the people around the vicinity, and of course even the safety of the skates drivers. For this reason the proponent of this blog would like to recommend the following:

  • Help the government those skates driver to find new job.
  • PNR should try to offer job if there is any to those skates driver.
  • PNR should start with a cheaper rate of fare.
  • Advertise the advantages of riding train.
  • Skates drivers should also bare on their minds the safety of their passengers are on their hands.

Conclusion

Skates is really a big help! For it is already a livelihood for some that supports their family living and needs and a cheaper and faster kind of transportation for those commuters near the railroad. It is also an attraction to tourist whom wants some adventure upon visiting Cam. Sur. It does not somehow contribute to global warming and by it you could travel and see wonderful things that you would never expect. Riding on it is an experience that you would want do to over and over again.

Despite of having many reasons or even though would have oodles reasons skates would never be legal as said of the PNR for it is life and safety of the people they are concern at most. Skates are not just all about fun but also a risk: a risk that you are taking upon riding it. Although skates are illegal; they are still recognize by the PNR for making the rail raod in good condition(http://www.bicolmail.com/issue/2010/mar4/xkepp.html).

Therefore, whenever and wherever upon skates you should not just consider the fun and excitement it could give you but also always be all ears on everything happening around you. Be alert while having your gnarly experience!

Introduction

Whenever we hear the word iskeyts(skates), the usual things that pop into our minds are the beauty of white snow, the crystal glints of the winter and the bonding of the family over a hot cup of coco milk and roasted marshmallow on a fireplace but here in the Philippines particularly in Naga City, Camarines Sur; iskeyts is not just a form of enjoyment. It's their way of transportation, way of livelihood and it's been part of their life.

Iskeyts(skates) is a kind of transportation here in the Philippines that can only be found traveling from some places in Quezon Province and in Bicol. It is also used to travel firewood, groceries and other things that can be carried on these light weight rail cars.

Back then in the year 1970's, where people to be using iskeyts already but uses man-power to operate it or this is better known as "di-tulak". It was a telephone lineman whom innovated the use of "di-tulak" into the iskeyts we have now which is powered by engines.

These Skates are made from pieces of woods that are in either square or rectangular in shape having as many as possible seats that it can have. It has an engine which makes the traveling faster yet jellylike experience or shaky. Skates uses also the same rail road as for the trains.

Here in Naga City, wherein we focus our fishing expedition at most, the biyaheng iskeyts start before the sun rises and end when the sun is already set. It travels into 3 different Barangay upon reaching Naga City these are Capucnasan, Maycatmon and San Antonio.

The terminal of iskeyts in Naga City is located at Corner A Matinez and Roxas Ave. Zone 6 rail Road Side, Concepcion Peque
na, Naga City.
